Important Dates To Remember

 
February 1
Team registration for Spring/Summer League opens.
 
March 16
Team registration for Spring/Summer League closes.
 
April 2 - 20
Pre-Season Practice games/team practices

Spring/Summer League Meeting - 6:00 p.m.
Al Loucks Auditorium, Salem Public Library
This meeting is mandatory for all team representatives, coaches, and/or managers.
Information will be on the upcoming Spring/Summer Adult Softball Leagues, facility use rules and regulations, facility operational guidelines, and more. Questions regarding this meeting should be directed to Nancy Aiken, Recreation Coordinator/Softball Programs, 503-588-6261, or naiken@cityofsalem.net.

 Division Definitions

1.   Division A Classic - Players are highly skilled in all aspects of softball play (e.g., hitting, fielding, game/play execution, etc.). The level of play is competitive and consistent from inning-to-inning and game-to-game.

 2.   Division B - Players have above average skills in all aspects of softball play. Teams have skilled players in most positions. The level of play is somewhat competitive and consistent from inning-to-inning and game-to-game.

 3.   Division C - Players have average skills in all aspects of softball play. The level of play is somewhat competitive but inconsistent from game-to-game.

 4.   Division D - Players have average or below average skills in all aspects of softball play. The level of play is recreational and inconsistent from game-to-game.

 5.   Division E - Players desire to engage in a recreational activity only. The main purpose is to exercise, socialize, and have fun.

How to Register

1.   Beginning February 1, 2007, team representatives, coaches, or managers may pick up a
Spring/Summer League Team Registration Packet at:

      City of Salem, Department of Community Services

      Civic Center, 555 Liberty Street SE, Room 300

      Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  

(open during the lunch hour)

2.   Spring/Summer League Team Registration Packets include:

      a.          Team Registration Information Sheet

      b.          Important Dates To Remember

      c.          Team Registration Form

      d.          Code of Conduct Sign-Off Sheet

      e.          Albert Wallace Marine Park Softball Complex Administrative
Rules and Regulations and League Operational Guidelines

      f.          Individual Player Registration Forms - Recreation Program Registration and Receipt.

3.   All team registration forms and fees are due in the Department of Community Services office
no later than 5:00 p.m., Friday, March 16, 2007.

Scheduled Pre-Season Practice Game

1.   Upon completion of the team registration process, team representatives, coaches, or managers may request to be scheduled into practice games, Monday through Friday evenings, April 2-20.

2.   Pre-Season Practice games are included in the team fees. Pre-Season Practice games will NOT be rescheduled if rained out.

3.   Most Pre-Season Practice games will be played without umpires. Some games may include umpires as part of the Salem Softball Umpires Association training/certification process.

4.   The practice game schedule will be posted at the softball complex and at http://www.softballcityusa.com/PreSeasonGameSchedule.html.
Please Note: Teams signed up for practice games may be scheduled to play teams outside of their division and/or classification.

5.   All practice game participants must be registered, fees paid, and listed on the team’s active roster.

  2 .  All league rain-outs will be rescheduled. In most cases, rain-outs will be scheduled at the end of the regular season.

The Albert Wallace Marine Park Softball Complex Administrative Rules and Regulations and League Operational Guidelines may be viewed on line at www.softballcityusa.com. Copies of the rules and regulations may also be picked up at the Department of Community Services office and/or the softball complex during regular operating hours.

Spring/Summer League Team Fees

Twelve (12) Single Games $599 plus $10 per player*

Twenty-four (24) Games/Doubleheaders $1,159 plus $10 per player*

Payment of Fees

1.   All fees must be paid at the time of registration.

2.   There is a $50 charge on all refunds. Refunds will not be granted after April 13, 2007.

3.   “Add” fees will be accepted as players are added to rosters. Players may not participate

in league play until “Add” fees are paid and a registration card has been completed.

4.   Five percent (5%) of team registration fees will be placed in the Softball Reserve Fund.

Team Practices

1.   If space allows and fields are playable, individual teams may reserve field space at the complex for team practices.

 2.   Practices are scheduled in one-hour time blocks. Fees are $10 per hour and 1 can of food per person.

 3.   All team practice participants must be registered, fees paid, and listed on the team’s active roster.

All tournaments scheduled at the softball complex are listed at 2007 Softball Tournament Calendar.
Each tournament listed includes a Tournament Director. To participate, contact the Tournament Director or contact naiken@cityofsalem.net.
